Sr. Systems Engineer

Description:
We have an immediate opening for a Senior System Engineering position. The program in which this position is for addresses performance gaps in the area of capacity, productivity, efficiency, and safety in the oceanic environment. Several key R&D activities are being conducted to improve oceanic operations including Web-Enabled Planning, Automatic Dependent Surveillance, Pre-departure and In-flight Oceanic Management. In addition, the qualified candidate will also work on highly-visible emission reduction initiatives. The qualified candidate will work directly with FAA program managers and technical leads for program planning and execution; collaborate with international stakeholders and representatives to plan for international flight demonstrations; and work with Business Manager for planning, obligating and tracking of vendor’s expenditures. The qualified candidate will work with Veracity Oceanic TBO team in support of FAA client.

Job Functions:

•  System engineering with a slight mix of program management
•  Experience with oceanic environment and air traffic control operations is highly desired
•  Experience with ATOP/Ocean21 system and its operations is highly desired
•  Familiarity with various tools used for Oceanic improvements
•  Ability to work well in team-oriented environment
•  Ability to communicate and work well with national and international stakeholders is essential

Requirements:

•  Bachelor's Degree in Engineering disciplines
•  Five to ten years of relevant experience
•  Experience with Oceanic environment and operations
•  Experience with Oceanic tools is highly-desired

Systems Engineer

Description:
The Systems Engineer’s role is to perform system design and integration, engineering design and analysis, network design, integration and maintenance

Job Functions:

•  Applies systems engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test or evaluate systems; review and prepare system engineering and technical analyses, site survey reports, site engineering reports, system requirements, configuration management plans, engineering change proposals, and other technical documentation
•  Applies system engineering experience to perform functions such as system integration, configuration management, quality assurance testing, or acquisition and resource management

Requirements:

•  Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other related field
•  At least 2-7 years of relevant experience with all or any of the following fields: civil/mechanical/electrical engineering, networking, systems integration, system implementation, and Autocad/Microstation drafting
•  Experience with software integration and/or engineering in UNIX/Linux environments a plus
•  Any experience with construction and/or mechanical engineering implementation and oversight is desirable
•  Experience with FAA NAS Air Traffic Control system desirable
•  Good oral and verbal communication and presentation skills
•  Ability to be a team player, as well as an independent worker
•  Self motivated Initiator and proactive thinker
•  Eligibility to work in the US and obtain a US DOT badge
•  Valid US drivers license
•  Ability to effectively coordinate with multiple technical teams to perform above functions

Cost Engineer

Description:
We have an immediate opening for a Cost Engineer. Performing “cost benefit” analysis for large electronic and telecom projects within the Federal Aviation Administration. The qualified individual will have the ability to compute NPV and compare project alternatives. Estimation of labor hours and cost for various electronics engineering and software development task are a major function. Individual will need to review and comment on bids submitted to the FAA. Good project management skills are required.

Qualifications:

•  A Bachelors degree in engineering, economics, finance, business or mathematics.
•  A Very Strong Ability to use Excel, including the ability to; (1) Logically organize cost and benefit estimates and design self checking mechanisms to avoid making mistakes, and (2) Compute the Present Value of a series of costs and benefits over time, and (3) Compute other financial parameters such as NPV, IRR, and Payback Period.
•  Ability to work both independently and in teams of all sizes.
•  Must be able to obtain technical information needed for cost and benefit estimates from engineer team members, even if the applicant is not an engineer.
•  Must be able to perform risk adjustments to cost and benefit estimates, either by: (1) Using a software package such as Crystal Ball or, (2) A personal knowledge of probability and statistics applied in Excel, or (3) The ability to program software simulations in a computer language of the applicant's choice.
•  Ability to write concise paragraphs describing and comparing project alternatives, the results of the applicant's financial analyses, and why, in your opinion, the alternative that you have selected is the best, considering both qualitative and quantitative factors.
•  Must be able to orally present and defend the results of your analyses.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

•  A Masters degree in Electrical Engineering
•  A Masters degree in Finance, Business Administration or Economics
•  The ability to formulate the best set of project alternatives to be analyzed, by discerning what the project life cycle benefits will be, and by gaining insight into the tradeoffs.
•  At least three years experience working as an engineer, to include estimating the labor hours, costs and time required to design and build electronics equipment and software programs. A good intuition about the number and type of labor hours needed to accomplish large electronics engineering tasks will be very helpful.
•  Be able to perform statistical analyses of fluctuations of equipment failure rates over time, to determine whether the changes are to be considered random or statistically significant. This should include the ability to perform and interpret linear regressions and an understanding of the Normal , Student-t and Weibull probability distributions.
•  Be able to analyze the corporate financial statements of bidder companies, rank the companies for risk of project non-completion based on their corporate financial position, and write a paper describing your results in a sufficiently objective manner so that it will withstand a legal challenge for fairness.
•  Understand the Federal Aviation Administration's acquisition management process (AMS)
•  Familiarity with US Federal OMB-300 reports, especially the Alternatives Analysis section
•  The ability to write computer programs in VBA for Excel
•  Knowledge about aviation, electronics, radio and spectrum engineering, air traffic control
